TOQUE is seeking a part-time contract Project Manager (4 month contract, starting late-June/early-July) to help launch a new yearly publication. The ideal person is self-motivated, highly organized, takes direction well, is personable and is comfortable cold-calling and making new connections. The candidate should have great communication and writing skills; an ability to distill information and write creative bite size pieces that are captivating and well-written. They should have a good knowledge of, and passion for, the community.


Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Contacting participants and advertisers (email, phone or in-person); securing contracts, compiling information, keeping organized  
  • Collecting and writing participant listings
  • Collecting advertisements (and liaising with our designers)
  • Collaborating and meeting with team members to ensure all elements of the project are in order and organized for ease of data transfer through the various stages
  • Setting up processes, updates and deadlines to support and guide the project  
  • Acting as a TOQUE spokesperson throughout the process


  • 4-year university or college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience as a Project Manager, or related work experience, managing information, people and data 
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in group settings, and drive the project on-site and remotely
  • Comfortable meeting with clients, advertisers and team members
  • Well versed in Microsoft Product Suite (Excel, Word), Google Docs and Google Forms creation. (Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is an asset)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; a keen eye for errors and typos
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills — a master at spreadsheets 
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and high-energy 
  • Knowledge and/or background of the Publishing, Advertising or Tourism (Food, Drinks, Breweries, Restaurants etc) Industry, preferred
  • Photography skills is an asset
  • Ability to wear “many hats”, i.e. performing multiple roles, as needed, to execute the needs of the project
  • Valid drivers’ license, ability to travel within Guelph, K-W, Hamilton and region, as required

Approx. 20hrs/week + commission
